Evolution of Laundry

Sorry grandparents - no kid photos in this one! This has been my week - getting ready for and wrapping up the "Little Lambs" resale at my church. I got lots of good stuff, including a wagon, Christmas presents, and of course new clothes for my kiddos.

My first load of laundry as a mother.

Painting Is NOT Relaxing

I am trying really hard to minimize my activities and rest, at 38 weeks pregnant. But Cameron and Landon don't seem to understand what that means! What can I do with them that is not a lot of work for me, but will keep them entertained?

Painting! I don't do this very often because I am kind of concerned about keeping things clean and neat. I realize this is a flaw, and kids need to get messy...I'm working on it. Cameron has a hard time sticking his hands in paint or mud or dirt or food, and that does make me a little sad. Landon, not so much. So I'm trying to let him go with it.

ANYWAY, as I don't do this messy painting thing often, I didn't KNOW what all it entailed. It's hard work! Even when you are resolved to let them do what they want! And it wasn't actually as much of a time-killer as I thought. Cameron, after I convinced him to use some other color than WHITE, was done very quickly.

Starting out with blank canvases. I felt like I needed to teach Cameron how to get the paint on his brush and put the brush on the paper! He has done this before, he is just v.reticent...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not Landon! He even has paint on his nose. Cos he thought it was okay to put his face in the plate.
Hey Mommy, if it's on a plate, I can eat it!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cameron is done. Used 2 colors. Almost 3. In separate, distinct strokes. And I'm not kidding, wanted me to wash the brush between colors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No stopping this guy!!!
~~~~~~~~~~

We played with chalk for a bit...I think Cameron prefers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As long as he doesn't have to share. See, if you lay down on top of the chalk (or toy or whatever), then Landon can't get to it! Um, Cameron, you can't use it either this way...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So abandoning chalk (or toy or whatever) is usually next. But then Landon doesn't want it anymore either. Go figure.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
VERDICT: NOT worth it! Not right now, anyway. I am glad they had fun, tho. I will do this again when it doesn't completely wear me out. Nope, painting is NOT relaxing. After naps we will watch a movie...
Video of Cameron
We finally got it!!!! The swimming, jumping, all the pool fun!!!
This progress has been made entirely this summer - just ask my mom and brother!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We didn't know the diving board was closed.
Try telling that to a 2 year old if he's already up there!
Good thing, tho, cos by batteries died unexpectedly on my camera right after!

"The Playdate"

The Playdate that almost everyone invited came to! So yeah, it was a bit of a madhouse. In a good way. We destroyed the playroom and train table, put stickers on paper plates and colored, fed the squirrels, ate outside, and I am sure all slept well!!! I must say, though, I am glad it's Friday and I have the weekend off. My back needs it!

Landon "walking" and Cameron "reading". In the background in order are Kendall, Bryce on the floor, Tyler with a train, Nev in someon's bag, Jackson at the train table, and Payton on the sofa. Content with the dalmation dogs. She could tell you all about them...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cameron and Jack. Don't let Cameron impress you too much. He is trying to rip the head off the paper duck in the book. You know the ones where you move the tab on the side and the head goes with it? Yeah, they don't last long in this house. Indestructable force against a movable object.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jackson, Katie, Tyler, Cameron, and Bryce all yelling at the squirrel in that tree. Yep, cos yelling at squirrels is FUN! As mothers, we are just happy it hasn't occurred to them to jump down into the mud.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I am left with. They are both *very* upset and crying that their friends are all gone. Can anyone say NAPTIME? Thanks for coming ladies! It was way fun.
Video of Landon
We captured it! Here are some independent steps Landon took this past weekend. He isn't much of a performer, so he did better without the camera. But still impressive! We are getting there!
Make video montages at www.OneTrueMedia.com
Also, another little video of him playing with his Swing Away. Cameron never really got into balls or bats much...just now able to really kick and throw. NOT so much with Landon. He *belly laughs* when anyone plays any kind of ball with him. And kicks, and throws, and hits. Without being taught! So neat seeing their personalities come out.
Amazing Feets!
I am absolutely determined to film this week. Cameron swimming and Landon walking...can't decide which is more impressive! BUT I do have some amazing still shots to share!
I usually hang Landon's blanket over the side of his crib to let it "air out". He has discovered that it is there, so he will take his little walker and pull it down. These photos are of him attempting to walk with the blanket where it belongs (duh---in the mouth!) *and* push walker at the same time.
So cute! He even holds it up to snuggle!
Doesn't work very well for walking, does it?
Until Mommy helps by "loading" blanket inside walker...
And if you are on Facebook, you have already seen a couple of these photos, but here are some of Cameron jumping off the diving board! We were already really proud of him on this day because he decided he could do the tunnel slide by himself - landing in deep water. But then he just randomly went over the the diving board, climbed up, walked the plank, and after some brief hesitation, JUMPED! Warren wasn't even there under the board! Truly. Amazing. Not even 2 1/2 yet! Go Cameron! You have made HUGE progress this summer!
I didn't get the actual first jumps - I was in the water, too. But he kept going and going, so this is a bit later. Warren and Cameron had developed a system by this time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Step 1: Cameron jumps

Step 2: Cameron doggy paddles until Warren gets to steer.

Step 3: Cameron "swims" to the edge. Meanwhile, telling the next contestant his strategy.

Step 4: Climb out of pool.
(WITHOUT help - this is very important)
While still instructing next jumper. Nobody understood what vital information was being conveyed,
least of all the next jumper...

Note: Eva/Wall-E towel. Cameron is loving Wall-E these days.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Snack time for Landon.
Cameron's not stopping till he hears the closing whistle.
Superfly.
Baby Girl Shower!
Much more exciting to post would be Cameron's fantabulous swimming skills or Landon's FIRST STEPS!!!! 3 of them!!!!!! I can not *say* how proud I am of both my boys. And how bummed I am that I don't have film of it! I will will will get Landon super soon, and I do have a few iPhone photos of Cameron jumping off the diving board. That are shocking good.
In the mean time, and because I need to update, here are some photos of my shower from Saturday! I don't have many. Kristi has promised me photos of the digital variety soon. But again, thanks to the phone...
I think they were trying to get a belly shot during the game.
A game that required an insane amount of thinking and memory skills.
I did not win. I am pregnant.
